In India – Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, an 11-year-old girl with speech and hearing impairments was found brutally raped and injured. Her family had been searching for her since Tuesday evening. Authorities have arrested a suspect, and the girl is receiving medical care in Meerut. This incident highlights ongoing safety concerns for vulnerable children.

Incident Details

The girl went missing on Tuesday evening. Her family immediately began looking for her. The next morning, she was discovered in a field, naked and seriously injured. She was rushed to a local hospital, which later referred her to a larger facility in Meerut for specialized treatment.

The Rampur police quickly began an investigation. Using CCTV footage from nearby areas, they identified 24-year-old Dan Singh, a resident of the same village, as the main suspect. During an attempt to arrest him, the suspect opened fire on police officers. In response, police fired back, and Singh was injured in the leg.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections relating to the rape of a minor and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Three police teams were deployed to track down the accused, and electronic evidence, including CCTV footage, has been collected.

Medical Findings

Dr. Anju Singh, who conducted the medical examination, stated, “The girl has multiple injuries on her private parts and blunt trauma to her face. She was terrified and unable to communicate what happened. This is one of the most horrific cases I have encountered in my career.”

Police Statement

Rampur Police Chief Vidya Sagar Mishra confirmed that the girl’s mother had submitted a complaint about the assault. “We acted immediately, registered the case, and arranged for her medical examination. CCTV footage shows the accused speaking to the girl outside her home before luring her to another location where she was assaulted,” he said.

The accused remains in police custody and is under investigation. Authorities are focused on collecting additional evidence and ensuring the girl receives proper care and support.

Context and Safety Concerns

This incident underscores the vulnerabilities faced by children with disabilities. Children with speech and hearing impairments often face extra challenges in communicating danger or seeking help, making them more at risk. Experts emphasize the importance of community awareness, rapid police response, and preventive measures, such as monitoring public spaces and educating children on safety.

Authorities urge families to report missing children immediately and encourage neighbors to assist in quick searches. Early intervention can save lives and help catch perpetrators quickly.

Conclusion

The Rampur case is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by vulnerable children and the need for vigilance in every community. Law enforcement is actively investigating the accused, and the girl is receiving ongoing medical care. Communities, families, and authorities must work together to protect children, especially those with disabilities, to prevent similar tragedies.
